History of the Company

Who we are

With nearly 100 employees, we were first established in 2001 to provide a “best in class” IT corporate infrastructure and service to the SME sector. We are head quartered in North West London and have a number of offices across the southeast. We are one of the pre-eminent Managed Services Provider in the South of England supporting over 10,000 users for their IT and security, delivering a broad range of cloud, hybrid cloud, cyber security, vulnerability testing and support solutions, bringing together the best technology sets to address our client’s ever changing requirements.

The Management Team

David founded Virtual IT in 2001 and serves as MD. In addition, David has also founded and managed two other highly successful technology companies – LCR Telecom Group and AccessKenya Group – both sold to listed companies.
Toby, our Chief Operating Officer, joined in 2006 and is responsible for everything operation and service related and has complete management overview of all the operational support teams across the different Virtual IT offices.
Simon, our Chief Technology Officer, is an infrastructure specialist and strategic systems analyst who has helped spearhead our technical solution since the company’s inception in 2001.
Tom is another founding member of the Virtual IT family, and has played a key role in the growth and development of Virtual IT since its inception. In 2007, he set up the Customer Account Management department to bring more effective and proactive account management to Virtual IT’s customers.
Paul joined in 2002 and is in charge of Sales within the business. He specialises in both MSP and MSSP services and has been instrumental in bringing a large number of our most significant clients to the business.
Esther has been the Financial Controller for Virtual IT since 2006. Currently Esther is responsible for Virtual IT’s finance and procurement department across all the offices.

We are an investor in people

Our award winning Apprenticeship Program offers school leavers training and development and importantly continued employment and a career path within the business. Many of our middle managers started their careers with us from college or university and have been with us for over 10 years. Even our staff on the helpdesk average 4 years of service compared with an industry average of just 12 months. An Investor in People since 2014, in October 2020 we were recognised for our commitment to our people by achieving our Gold certification. We are also a living wage provider and only work with suppliers and partners that uphold the same standards.

Virtual IT has partnered with various industry leading vendors and is a Microsoft Direct Partner with gold certification in Microsoft’s Small & Midmarket Cloud Solutions, Cloud Productivity and Datacentre plus an ever growing list of other competencies. This is complemented by being ISO 27001 and ISO9001 certified and being an HP partner, a Datto Professional Partner and WatchGuard Gold Partner .
